Twisted rope mirror with a gold edge along the inner rim, from Southern France. This charming mirror was designed by Adrien Audoux & Frida Minet and dates back to the 1950s. It features a woven hemp back panel and a metal ring for hanging.
Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet, are a French-Swiss design couple active in the mid-20th century. They became known for their unique, playful furniture made from natural materials. Based in the Côte d'Azur, they likely founded their workshop in the late 1920s. As members of the Union des Artistes Modernes, they embraced simplicity and functionality in their designs. Their creations, often crafted from abaca hemp cord, bamboo, and beech, were inspired by the coastal and nautical lifestyle of Provence. Their work reflected both practicality and artistry.
Please note, over time, the natural materials of the frame have developed a subtle aged scent. Additionally, due to its age, the corded frame may shed some fibers. The glass of the mirror shows minimal traces of use, but overall, it remains in good vintage condition and is ready to be displayed!
