Charming antique Dutch folk art stool with hand-painted floral decoration. This small wooden stool dates from the late 19th century and features a red painted finish decorated with traditional floral and scrolling motifs. The hand-painted decoration continues across the top, sides and legs. The top is constructed from two separate wooden boards, resulting in a visible gap between the two sections. This is part of its construction and not a crack. The stool shows signs of age and use, including some small wood chips, surface marks and chips to the painted finish. Some of the paint chips have been carefully touched up in the past. There are also some old woodworm holes visible on the underside; these are no longer an issue and do not affect the stability or use of the stool. Overall, the stool remains in good antique condition with a beautiful aged patina. A charming example of Dutch folk art furniture, suitable as a small stool, footstool, plant stand or decorative accent.
The dimensions of the stool are 31.5 (H) x 48 (W) x 25 (D) cm // 12.4" (H) x 18.9" (W) x 9.8" (D).
